Ninety percent of an iceberg's mass is hidden from sight beneath the ocean's surface. As its freshwater walls melt away, great plumes will surge upwards, carving deep channels along its sides. The sun and warm air eventually melt its peak as well, which causes it to rise from the water and expose these beautiful, vertical flutes. We discovered this striking creation along the Antarctic Peninsula.
