As glaciers become land-locked and stop contributing icebergs to the marine ecosystem, polar bears like this big, fat male, seen climbing out of the Barents Sea onto a chunk of glacial ice, lose the hunting grounds that are vital to their survival. I believe art inspired by science can motivate conservation, and this image in particular reminds me of the lives at stake should we fail to act.
