Sperm whales have traversed the deep oceans of our Earth for millions of years. The pods we know today thrive under the guidance of the eldest and wisest female in the group as she ushers her family along ancient waterways to their feeding grounds. I created this work as a tribute to the mothers, grandmothers, and wise women keeping our world turning; women like my lion-hearted partner Cristina Mittermeier pictured above, and my own mother who led our family with warmth and resolve through the long Arctic winters.
